A population-based study just published in the Journal of Arthroplasty analyzed over 74,000 total knee replacements across 62 hospitals in Ontario, Canada.
What The findings from the Research (THE TRUTH)?
Robotic-assisted TKA was associated with double the risk of major surgical complications within one year compared to conventional TKA.
2x the complications. Longer operative times. And this persisted even after accounting for the learning curve.

We are adopting a technology at exponential speed.
Robotic TKA is projected to surpass conventional TKA by 2030 - and the real-world complication data is going the wrong direction.
The theoretical benefits of improved
alignment are real. I believe in the technology.But theoretical benefits and patient outcomes are not the same thing.
This is not anti-technology.
This is pro-patient.
The surgeons who understand the data,
who demand rigorous evaluation before
wholesale adoption, who refuse to let
marketing outrun outcomes...
Those are the surgeons patients need.
